- Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding
It is sometimes also called Gas Tungsten Arc Welding or GTAW. The welding arc in this type of welding uses tungsten as the electrode. The fusion between two parts is achieved using a filler metal. It’s a two-handed process that requires both the welding nozzle as well as the filler.
- Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding
MIG welding is not very different from TIG welding as both the processes use a filler and a gas shield. However, the filler in MIG welding is directly fed through the welder in the form of a wire. Unlike TIG, this is a one-handed process.
Stick welding used to be our preferred mode of welding before the more advanced MIG and TIG came to the scene. It uses a filler metal atop a stick welder which functions at a high temperature. However, this process is not suitable for thin metals.
The cost of welding varies substantially based on the cross-sectional area of the damaged point and the intensity of the damage. However, one thing is for sure- you won’t get a better price than FT Auto Centre anywhere else in Kirton.
